Applying the Health Belief Model in nursing practice can guide nursing practice in multiple ways. This model can also assist with developing educational interventions and programs to address misconceptions, emphasize the severity of consequences associated with substance abuse, and highlight the benefits of avoiding substance use. By applying the Health Belief Model, interventions can be individualized to address specific thoughts and perceptions that influence decisions regarding substance use (OpenAI, 2025).
